Sound, voicework and Movement Medicine in Greece

Move, Play, Connect: A creative journey into sound, voice and Movement Medicine in fabulous Crete island

12th-19th of June 2014

Chora Skafion is the region for hiking gorges, pristine waters, majestic mountains and traditional food. This is a retreat to enjoy Nature, relax, play and heal.

In the sessions dedicated to s

ound, we will explore our relationship with rhythm, breath and the use of our voice and how these tools can give us greater creativity, freedom and capacity to express who we are and embrace more of ourselves.

Sound and voice work aim to restore physical, emotional, mental and spiritual balance through the use of sound and voice as a healing force.

In the session dedicate to dance, we will explore how movement and dance are tools to enhance our playfulness, to connect to one another and to discover our unique creative expression.

We will dance also outdoor, to deepen our relationship with Nature and explore a wider movement vocabulary and to discover new ways in which the body wants to move and expand when is not constricted in a room.

Movement Medicine is a form of conscious dance and movement meditation that has deep roots into shamanism, contemporary therapeutic and artistic wisdom. It is a practice that supports personal growth, expansion, healing, well-being and a deeper relationship with ourselves and others.

We will explore all of the above, including:

“Awakening the Dancer”, find the creative freedom in our bodies and the dance that wants to emerge.

Our connection with Yin and Yang, the receptive and active principles and the Divine Feminine and Masculine.

Our relationship with the Elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Air)

Laura is an apprentice Movement Medicine teacher and facilitator, sound&voice therapist, theater artist and clown. She recently trained also in somatic energy medicine and body work. She danced all her way through cancer and while having chemotherapy and trusted the innate intelligence of the body and its natural capacity to heal and that movement is her medicine. She has taught Movement Medicine in UK, California, Peru.

“I am so grateful to have been able to participate in the dance of the elements with you. Thank you for your exquisite guidance and facilitation, and holding loving and sacred space. It was truly transformational for me, like coming home to my body, to joy, to tenderness, to heart connection, to play and embrace of my child self. Feel a deep remembering and opening to myself and life”.
Laura Linstead, massage therapist, health coach and NIA dance instructor.
